Spiritual Sunday- With Patsy Cline

image
The old rugged cross      (Listen to midi)

              D           D7                G
1. On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross,
            A               A7                    D
the emblem of suffering and shame,
                                    D7                      G               Em
and I love that old cross where the dearest and best
               A               A7                  D
for a world of lost sinners was slain.

             A                                  D
So I'll cherish the old rugged cross,
            G                              D
till my trophies at last I lay down.
                           D7                G
I will cling to the old rugged cross,
               D                     A             D
and exchange it some day for a crown.

                     D            D7                G
2. O that old rugged cross, so despised by the world,
                A                 A7             D
has a wondrous attraction for me,
                                       D7                 G      Em
for the dear Lamb of God left His glory above,
           A           A7            D
to bear it to dark Calvary.

             A                                  D
So I'll cherish the old rugged cross,
            G                              D
till my trophies at last I lay down.
                           D7                G
I will cling to the old rugged cross,
               D                     A             G - D
and exchange it some day for a crown.

Spiritual Sunday- With Pi

  1. Adult Pi Patel: Faith is a house with many rooms.

  2. Writer: But no room for doubt?

  3. Adult Pi Patel: Oh plenty, on every floor. Doubt is useful, it keeps faith a living thing. After all, you cannot know the strength of your faith until it is tested.

Spiritual Sunday- Giving

"I am sorry, Boy," said the tree, "but I have nothing left to give you.  My apples are gone."
"My teeth are too weak for apples," said the boy.
"My branches are gone," said the tree. "You cannot swing on them.”
"I am too old to swing on branches," said the boy.
"My trunk is gone," said the tree. "You cannot climb."
"I am too tired to climb," said the boy.

"I am sorry," sighed the tree. "I wish that I could give you something------ but I have nothing left. I am just an old stump."

"I don't need very much now," said the boy. "just a quiet place to sit and rest. I am very tired."

"Well," said the tree, straightening herself up as much as she could, "Well, an old stump is good for sitting and resting. Come, Boy, sit down. Sit down and rest."

And the boy did.

And the tree was happy.

Spiritual Sunday- Compassion

Jonah: Well, I did my job. I warned them they would be punished, and now were going to watch them get wiped off the face of the earth! [whispers] I picked a safe distance so we wont get singed.

"Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience" Colossians 3:12 (ESV)

Spiritual Sunday- Fear

"You have listened to fears, Child," said Aslan. "Come, let me breathe on you. Forget them. Are you brave again?"
